If you are considering a weight-loss treatment, there is usually one question waiting at the front of the queue:

How much weight will I actually lose? It is an understandable question. It is also one without a guaranteed personal answer.

Clinical studies can tell us what happened on average across a large group of people. They cannot look into the future, inspect your bathroom scales and provide an exact number.

Here is what the research tells us and what it does not.

A Quick Introduction to Foundayo

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, a prescription-only GLP-1 medicine developed by Eli Lilly. It was authorised in the UK in August 2026 for weight management and insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes.

Unlike several existing GLP-1 treatments, Foundayo is taken as a once-daily tablet rather than an injection. It works by activating GLP-1 receptors involved in appetite. This can help you feel fuller, reduce hunger and manage food cravings, potentially making a reduced-calorie diet easier to maintain.

For weight management, it is used alongside dietary changes and increased physical activity. The tablet provides support; it does not quietly do all the work while your habits take the year off.

What Did the Foundayo Trial Find?

The main phase 3 weight-management study, known as ATTAIN-1, involved 3,127 adults with obesity who did not have diabetes.

Participants received one of three investigated doses of orforglipron or a placebo alongside support with healthy eating and physical activity.

After 72 weeks, average weight loss was:

  • 7.5% with the lower investigated dose.
  • 8.4% with the middle investigated dose.
  • 11.2% with the highest investigated dose.
  • 2.1% with placebo.

To put that into context, an 11.2% reduction would be equivalent to 11.2kg for someone starting at 100kg. That is an illustration, not a personal forecast.

Some participants lost more and others lost less. In the highest-dose group, around 55% lost at least 10% of their starting weight, 36% lost at least 15%, and 19% lost 20% or more.

After 72 Weeks of Treatment What the Study Found
Average weight loss with orforglipron Approximately 7.5% to 11.2% of starting body weight
Average weight loss with the highest investigated dose 11.2% of starting body weight
Participants who lost at least 10% Around 55 in every 100 people
Participants who lost at least 15% Around 36 in every 100 people
Participants who lost at least 20% Around 19 in every 100 people
Average weight loss with placebo 2.1% of starting body weight

What Does That Mean in Kilograms?

Starting Weight 7.5% Weight Loss 11.2% Weight Loss
80kg 6kg Approximately 9kg
100kg 7.5kg 11.2kg
120kg 9kg Approximately 13.4kg

How Quickly Might You Notice a Difference?

The headline results were measured after 72 weeks, which is roughly 16 and a half months. That matters because Foundayo is intended for ongoing weight management, not rapid weight loss before a holiday, wedding or particularly ambitious reunion.

Treatment also starts at a low dose and increases gradually, with at least one month at each dose level. This allows your body time to adjust and may help manage side effects. You may notice changes in hunger, portion size or food cravings before seeing a dramatic change on the scales. Weight loss itself is rarely perfectly steady.

Some weeks the number may fall and some weeks it may stay put. It might even occasionally move in the direction nobody invited it to. That does not necessarily mean the treatment has stopped working. Fluid levels, digestion, hormones and when you last ate can all affect a single reading.

Even if you don't notice a difference on the scales, a lot of our patients have found that getting out a tape measure can show results that numbers on the scales just can't measure. Give this a go if you're getting some scale fatigue, and carry on your weight loss journey with newfound confidence.

Why Could Your Results Be Different?

Your response may be influenced by:

  • Your starting weight.
  • The dose you can tolerate.
  • Your eating and activity habits.
  • Other health conditions.
  • Medicines you take.
  • How consistently you follow treatment.
  • Whether side effects affect your nutrition or routine.

Trial averages also come from a closely monitored study. Everyday life includes work deadlines, birthdays, disrupted sleep and the occasional takeaway. Real-world results may therefore differ.

This is why comparing your progress with somebody online is rarely helpful. Their medical history, treatment plan and starting point may be completely different, even if their "week eight update" comes with very confident lighting.

When Should Your Progress Be Reviewed?

Your prescriber should review how well the treatment is working and how you are tolerating it.

Do not increase your dose yourself because the scales have been uncooperative. A higher dose does not guarantee faster results and may increase side effects.

Pharmacy Planet's clinical team can help assess whether Foundayo is suitable for you and support you in setting realistic treatment goals if it is prescribed.

So, How Much Could You Lose?

In ATTAIN-1, average weight loss ranged from 7.5% to 11.2% after 72 weeks across the investigated orforglipron doses. Some people lost considerably more, while others experienced smaller changes.

The honest answer is that Foundayo may support meaningful weight loss, but it cannot promise a particular number or deadline.

Progress deserves patience, clinical support and a wider view than one morning on the scales.

Your body is not a delivery service. It does not guarantee results by Tuesday.
